As the time nears for the latest press conference from Apple, the rumor mill is tossing out new ideas faster than you can say iPad.

As this blog has already reported, Apple executives are scheduled to speak in San Francisco tomorrow morning, at 10 a.m. Pacific Time, presumably to announce their latest product. In the past, Apple has shown us the Apple Macbook Air, iPhone and other laptop accessories at press conferences, but from the look of their invitation sent out to media outlets across the world last week, it appears that the new product will be the next version of its tablet computer, the iPad.

While many leading tech and media companies were previously referring to the computer as the iPad 3, several are switching gears and considering that it may be called the iPad HD.

"A developer who's previously provided reliable information with respect to things Apple and otherwise tells us the next iPad uses the HD moniker instead of going with 'iPad 3,'" writes CNET's Apple product correspondent, Josh Lowensohn.

According to Lowensohn, Griffin - which is a company that manufactures products for Apple - had cases labeled as "iPad HDs" hidden in its warehouse.

If it is indeed called the HD, it very likely refers to high definition, such as the high definition television (HDTV) channels that many cable companies offer. In this case, HD could potentially be a name that Apple is using to describe the retina technology that many experts believe will be featured in the new iPad, for the most part because the iPhone 4 and 4S already have this component. As far as other features go, an improved camera is another popular guess, as well as the addition of Siri.

Other tech media companies such as Mashable, VentureBeat and Gizmodo claim to have similar sources that corroborate with this information, but of course, nothing is certain until tomorrow's conference!
