New American Express Windows 10 Universal app is now available in the Windows Store

Not all apps available on previous version of Windows Phone have gone through updates at the same pace, which includes the banking app for American Express customers, which was only recently updated with better integration with Microsoft Windows 10, as a universal app.

Most of the features mirror what American Express customers can expect when accessing the official website, including the ability to set up Bill Pay, Auto Pay, enrolling in paperless statements, and making credit card payments by setting up external bank accounts.

A nice addition is also the ability to monitor the FICO score from within the app, which is also a feature available on the AMEX website.

It should be noted that this new iteration of the American Express Windows 10 universal app is available exclusively to US customers, which means that accessing the app from outside the United States requires changing the local settings of the host device.

Interestingly enough, the development of banking apps has been rather slow, with American Express being one of the few with a Windows 10 universal app available. Bank of America, on the other hand, as well as Chase Bank, and Wells Fargo have been lagging behind with apps only available to Windows Phone users.

With American Express being the frontrunner in offering a Windows 10 universal app to its customers, there is a strong chance of Bank of America and other institutions to follow suit, as Windows 10 adoption rate increases, as well as demand of new apps available on devices like Windows laptops, tablets, and hybrid PCs, like Microsoft Surface Pro and Surface Book.
