Travelling with multiple devices just got easier

Omnicharge battery pack powers MacBooks and Windows 10 laptops

The problem with most battery packs is that they are not cost effective, because you need many different ones for every type of device you have, whether it’s a MacBook or Windows 10 laptop, a tablet or a smartphone. Each device has different voltage requirements, and trying to charge a small device like a tablet, with a battery pack designed for a laptop, will most likely not work, or damage your electronics.

It goes without saying that it would have been simply a matter of time before someone came up with a solution to this problem, and according to a very successful IndieGoGo campaign, we’ll soon be able to carry one battery pack capable of powering everything we need, including appliances that have no battery.

This new power bank appropriately called Omnicharge, is currently backed by almost 1400 investors, who helped the Omnicharge Team leap over the expected goal of $50,000 by 410%, racking up over $205,141 at the time of this writing.

According to the IndieGoGo page, the range of devices that can be powered by Omnicharge is comprehensive to a fault, and includes:

  • any laptop (we assume gaming laptops as well) for up to 13 hours,
  • DSLR cameras for up to 4-6 charges,
  • projectors for up to 3-5 hours,
  • televisions for up to 3 hours,
  • smartphones for up to 9 charges,
  • tablets up to 8 charges,
  • portable speakers for up to 3 charges, and
  • action cameras for up to 8 charges

The true strength of this battery pack is the ability automatically adjust the power output for every device plugged into its two USB ports, as well as the built-in universal AC/DC outlet. By that token, Omnicharge can power devices like a TV, while charging a laptop, simultaneously, by adjusting the power output of each outlet accordingly, to deliver the right amount of power, protecting all connected electronics from overcharging or undercharging.

The power bank comes in two versions: Standard and Pro. The Standard version comes with a 13600mAh 4-cell 65W battery, and can be powered in as little as 2 hours, while the Pro version packs a 20400mAh 6-cell battery, and delivers 100W of power, and can reach a full charge in 3 hours.
