We have all been in this frustrating situation before - you go to plug in your iPhone or iPad into the wall or your computer, only to discover that you are holding the USB cable the wrong way, keeping it from going in correctly. This is especially true if you happen to be fishing around for your electronics in a dark room. While this might seem like only a minor inconvenience, Apple is developing a new reversible USB cable that will eliminate the problem entirely.

The reversible cable is exactly what it sounds like - no matter what way you plug it in, it will fit with absolutely no issue. The first pictures of the new cable made the rounds on the internet early last week, with new reports and blogs supporting the rumor that Apple will be releasing the new USB cables when the iPhone 6 is publicly released in September. The patent for this new accessory was filed back in early 2013, with the tech giant developing the cables since then.

"Embodiments can provide reversible or dual orientation USB plug connectors for mating with standard USB receptacle connectors, e.g., a standard Type A USB receptacle connector. Accordingly, the present invention may be compatible with any current or future electronic device that includes a standard USB receptacle connector," the company writes in its description of the device.
