Nobody likes to be stuck in traffic. Whether you are commuting to work or getting home from a night out with friends, everybody likes to get to their destination fast. While there are already apps and features available that can help you navigate your route as quickly as possible, Apple recently received a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office that would take the idea of crowd sourcing to an entirely new level.

How the new app would work is surprisingly simple. With the feature installed, your phone will automatically determine the route you are taking and make note of every stop you have to make along the way, as well as the duration of each stop. The iPhone would be able to recognize the difference between a two and half minute light and a 10 second wait at a stop sign. The data would then be transferred to a remote server and shared with all of the other vehicles logged into the same standard navigation system.

This will allow you to see, in real time, the traffic that has developed and what route would be the fastest for you to take in order to get to your destination. The goal of this feature is to provide information that is more accurate than other navigation systems, which are broader and cannot get the same level of on-the-ground detail. The next time you are heading out the door for work, you will be able to estimate exactly how long the commute will take you!

While this is still being developed, you can invest in other great Apple products in the meantime. If you are in the market for an Apple TV or iPad mini, be sure to shop with PortableOne today!
