If your iPad or iPad mini happens to get its 4G network connection from AT&T, you're in luck. One of the biggest expenses of traveling abroad these days is paying for international data and voice charges, since domestic cellular companies are known for charging through the nose for individuals who use them. However, one company is trying to change that.

AT&T announced earlier this week that it has partnered up with Boingo - a wireless internet provider - to give its customers access to Wi-Fi hotspots in international airports for free.

The deal is available to those customers who have 300 and 800 MB plans from the wireless provider through the Data Global Add-On Package. Rather than worry about expending all of their allotment by downloading a movie, game or app while sitting in an airport waiting for a flight or connection, those who have these plans for their iPad or smartphone can enjoy up to a gigabyte of data through Wi-Fi per month, completely free of charge.

Not only does the deal make Boingo hotspots open to travelers from the United States who are going abroad, it also gives international Boingo customers access to AT&T's network of hotspots in airports, public places and sports stadiums stateside.

"With the explosion in both Wi-Fi enabled devices and customer data demand, Wi-Fi roaming continues to be a key facilitator for global data access," Boingo's vice president of business development Howard Buzick said in  press release.

This partnership makes traveling with an iPad or other Wi-Fi- enabled device easier and less expensive than ever. Deals like this one are helping to make global Wi-Fi access a reality, and thus providing customers with more reasons to purchase great tablets like the iPad.
