Windows 10 free upgrade will continue for some users under new rules.

According to a post on the Microsoft accessibility blog from last week Microsoft Windows 10 free upgrade will continue for some users beyond the set deadline of July 29th 2016.

The new rule will apply to people with disabilities. The post published May 6th by Daniel Hubbell explains that consumers who make use of assistive technology, such as speech recognition, will be able to extend the deadline to upgrade to Windows 10 for free indefinitely.

Some users will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 for free beyond the set deadline of July 29th 2016.

The details on how the free extension to upgrade to Windows 10 will apply to users of screen readers, and other assistive technology, is not clear at this time. With that said Habbel has responded to a comment within the support blog comment thread, asking about what type of guidelines will Microsoft apply to determine who is eligible for the free update extension.

Habbel advised users to keep an eye on the thread for more information, as the blog post is expected to be updated in the near future.
