Oh, there is one more thing: The new iPad Air 2, Mini and Pro

In the wake on one of Apple’s most prolific years, and while we wait for the next big Mac announcement, or confirmation there of, rumors from Taiwanese tech news outlet CTEE suggest a big October announcement for a new version of the iPad Air.

The specs for the new tablet will include double the RAM of its current model, an A8 processor, and iOS8. The iPad Air 2 will also be thinner than its current version and it will feature Touch-ID, making it the first iPad to support fingerprint scanning. The Touch-ID sensor to be included in the new device is rumored to be somewhat an improvement over the one present in the iPhone 6.

According to the report, Apple will deliver the new generation 9.7 inch iPad in monthly shipments.

The article indicates also some interesting news for the first quarter of next year, in which Apple is expected to release the next generation of the Apple iPad Mini. In the second quarter of 2015, there is also a high likelihood that the 12.9 inch iPad Pro will be released, according to sources close to supply chains.

According to the always very reliable, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, a 12.9 inch iPad Pro is not only likely to happen: it makes perfect sense. With Apple’s renowned interest in BYOD, and its alliance with IBM, the iPad Mini, which seems to be now the device of choice over the original iPad, will be able to go only so far in the business world to be useful, where an iPad Pro with a size closer to that of a regular laptop, is expected to prove very successful.

Exact specs, amidst speculations are hard to predict, but the likelihood of the iPad Pro to include Touch-ID technology, as well as a far more advanced A(9?) chip, are very plausible.

In the realm of utter speculation, yet without getting too ahead of ourselves, it would make a lot of sense to include iOS8 support for side-by-side multitasking, a feature which has been already spotted in the SDK release of iOS8.
