Apple iPad Pro gets a better Google Docs experience at last

Apple iPad Pro

For those of you who own an iPad Pro, and whose productivity toolbox, centers on Google apps, life has not been very easy. Google released an update to its Google Docs app in March, but the lack of Split View support has resulted in a subpar experience. Finally, this is no longer the case, with the recent release of an update to Google Docs for the Apple iPad Pro, which addresses many of the shortcomings of its previous version.

This is important as one of the most powerful ways to use Google Docs, is side-to-side with other applications, for note-taking, research and other activities the require a flexible interface.

For writers, students and anyone whose productivity cycle hinges on a streamlined method of gathering and curating information, this is a priceless feature, because the latest update allows iPad Pro users to keep a finger on the pulse of the latest news and trends from their favorite sources, and translate that information into content, without the need for switching from Safari, Chrome, a PDF document, or any number of news apps to Google Docs.

Best of all, the update encompasses other iOS devices as well, including iPad Air 2, and iPad Mini 4.

By the same tune, accessory manufacturers have been keeping the pace, and designed a number of advanced keyboards that offer even more advantages to working on an iPad. Razer, a maker of advanced gaming accessories, has created a mechanical keyboard cover for the iPad Pro that rivals Apple’s own, in every respect. Logitech has also released a new version of its Create keyboard which now features a holder for the Apple Pencil, and a number of iOS specific function keys.

Google’s latest update to its Docs app, together with an array of advanced accessories, is finally proving Apple’s point on the iPad Pro being every bit a laptop replacement as the company described it.
