Apple iPad Mini Pro: it might happen, and we aren’t kidding this time.

Apple iPad Pro with Pencil

Last April’s Fools, Gadgette’s and Recombu poked fun at Apple fans, by publishing two parodies hinting at the possibility of a new iMac built into the shell of a 1998 iMac, as well as a new “iPad Pro Mini Pro”, a 7.9 inch version of the iPad Pro, with a potential smaller version that “...will come with 50% more Pro, and 50% more Mini, than the iPad Pro Mini Pro, in a Mini form factor, but with more Pro than ever...”.

According to a recent article published by Japanese tech news blog MacOtakara, joke’s on us, because a iPad Pro Mini may be very well underway.

The blog discusses sources claiming that the new device will be the direct successor of the iPad Mini 4, effectively ending the iPad Mini product line, and reintroducing it as a 7.9 inch iPad Pro.

The device will feature a smart connector, much like the 12.9 inch, and the 9.7 inch iPad Pro, as well as a 12MP iSight camera, True Tone flash, and, of course, it will be introduced sans 3.5 mm audio jack.

MacOtakara reports also that future iterations of the iPad Pro, including the 7.9 inch version, will be upgraded with quad microphones, however the details on why or how this upgrade will take place are scarce, and perhaps a little flimsy.

The blog also claims that the new iPad Pro Mini will ship in the Spring of 2017, perhaps the beginning of April... (*wink-wink*).

As far-fetched as it may seem, sources with more authority than MacOtakara, have weighed in on the possibility that Apple will expand the iPad Pro onto more form factors, according to KGI Securities Ming-Chi Kuo, who claims in a famous note to investors, that a10.5 inch iPad Pro is in the cards.

By that token, it’s not impossible to consider an iPad Mini Pro as the successor of the iPad Mini, especially as the company looks to further support of Apple Pencil across all its products lines, including the Mac.
