Apple Announced a new model line up for the 12" MacBook with upgraded processors and graphics today, Tuesday April 19, 2016. The 12" MacBook was first released in Spring 2015 and has become one of the most popular models out of Cupertino. Apple also introduced a new Rose Gold color for the MacBook. Starting at $1,299 for 1.1GHz i5 and 256GB with 8GB of RAM the new MacBook is expected to be a hit.

The 12" MacBook first introduced in Spring 2015 was a revolution in mobile computing for traveling professionals. At only 2 pounds, sporting a full size keyboard and all day battery life, AND a real OS it is a go to device for many. Now that the MacBook is powered with the new Intel Skylake processors and graphics have been upgraded to the Intel HD Graphics 515 graphics card it will be more appealing to those replacing older MacBook Air or MacBook Pro laptops. I traded mine in for the 2015 MacBook and the only thing I miss is the larger screen, but its just fine for travel.

The new 2016 models boast all day computing with up to 10 hours of battery life. When comparing the MacBook with the 12" iPad Pro, once you add the optional keyboard, the 12" iPad Pro with keyboard weight more than the MacBook. Add OS X to that and the MacBook is our choice for PC replacement. (Sorry Phill!)

There have been rumors that Apple will retire the MacBook Air this year, but in a surprise, Apple instead announced a new 13" Macbook Air lineup with standard spec starting with 8GB of RAM; otherwise identical in previous specifications. The 2016 13" MacBook Air still uses the Broadwell Intel processors and have the same port configuration as the 2015 models. The RAM upgrade as the base spec bring essentially a price drop to what was previously a CTO configuration. Starting at $999 with 8GB of RAM, 1.6GHz i5 and 128GB Flash storage is a great entry level 13" MacBook Air.
