2019 will be the year of the Apple Mac and Macbook Pro

One of the most anticipated news this year, is the now confirmed production schedule for the 2019 Apple Mac Pro, which represents the first significant update of the Mac Pro lineup, since 2013. The trashcan-shaped high-performance Mac was introduced amidst controversy, as its target audience pointed out the 2013 Mac Pro’s design limitations in regard to upgrades and support of newer hardware. Considering that since 2013, Intel and all major chip manufacturers have gone through several generations and speed increases for their flagship processors, a complete rehaul of the Mac Pro seems most appropriate.

More evidence of a surge of interest for high-performance Macs has shown after the unveiling of the iMac Pro, a considerably more powerful version of the Apple iMac, which is closer to the creative professional crowd than it is to consumers, both in terms of hardware and price.

By this token it should not come as a surprise that Apple is announcing a new Macbook Pro featuring an unheard of 32GB of RAM, With that said, the road to a 32GB RAM Macbook is going to be as tough to travel as the one leading to the 2019 Mac Pro, mostly due to Intel’s promise to deliver its Cannon Lake CPU, which supports LPDDR4 RAM, allowing for 32GB modules on devices like the Macbook Pro.

The chances of that happening as pretty high, as Intel has pledged to reach its 10nm goal for its processors. Still, as always, Apple reserves the right to debunk, or confirm all speculations.

The fact that Apple is showing renewed interest for pro customers is a good sign after a long period of time in which Apple’s focus has been almost entirely on regular consumers, with an emphasis on mobile devices like the iPhone X and the iPad Pro, currently making up for the majority of Apple’s sales worldwide. By the looks of things, it’s very possible that 2019 will see more Pro announcements, knock of wood.
