Microsoft has introduced a number of key features into the latest version of Office 365, its document, spreadsheet and presentation suite. Multiple users will now be able to edit a shared document simultaneously and in real-time, a capability that brings the software on par with Google Docs in terms of enabling collaboration.

CNet.com reports that many users had been frustrated by the lack of such a function in Office 365, which has seen some of its market share gobbled up by Google's document creation web applications. In addition to Word docs, users will also be able to edit and share spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations at the same time.

"New real-time presence helps you see where your co-authors are working in the document so that you don't create conflicts as you edit," the company announced in a blog post on their website. "Additionally, the new ability to see changes to text and formatting as they happen will help you and your co-authors stay on the same page as your ideas develop and evolve."

In addition to real-time collaboration, Office 365 has a number of other new functions, including the ability to drag and drop both cells and pages in Excel and better control visuals in PowerPoint.

Laptops with Windows are some of the most useful tools that any businessperson can have in their arsenal.
