When it comes to our smartphones - or any other piece of technology we regularly use - most of us feel pretty confident about keeping them safe and protected. While we might know the basics, such as not dropping them on the ground or keeping them out of water, the truth is that those advanced little machines are exceedingly fragile. There is more you could be doing to protect your iPhone from damage than you are likely currently doing, ways that will ensure your phone stays in one piece and functional for as long as possible.

Here are a few tips for caring for your iPhone:

  • Avoid high moisture: Although we know to keep our iPhones out of direct water, it should not be left in enclosed spaces - indoor pools, bathrooms - where there is a high amount of moisture and humidity in the air. The water in the air can be absorbed into your phone very quickly.
  • Don't leave it in the car: When we are out doing errands, sometimes it is natural to leave your phone behind in the car. You should break yourself of this habit immediately, as keeping the phone in your vehicle is bad for the device, even for short periods of time. The extreme hot and cold temperatures that can form will damage your phone.
  • Use display protectors: Some people don't follow this and simply carry their phones around without any kind of case or layer of film on the screen. This is an especially bad idea, as you never know when you might accidentally drop your phone, which could result in it becoming shattered without the right protection.
