iOS 8 is set to dominate enterprise business

Apple is determined to dominate enterprise work environment and BYOD, and it made it crystal clear months ago, upon shipping, ever so under the company’s breath, a device enrollment program, announced as new as of late, in an oddly strategic move, most likely having to do with the release of iOS 8.

Finally, upon learning about all the new amazing features of the operating system, Apple’s intentions are clear, as many of these existing, and future features, are indeed integral part of how enterprise work environments will function, according to Apple.

The crucial part of ruling the enterprise battlefield is to provide a solid Zero-Touch support, bullet-proof security, and wireless monitoring. Apple has demonstrated to be able to master all of the above, amazingly without even trying.

The interesting part of how Apple came to being the choice of enterprises across the board, is that Apple simply fell into it by creating the best consumer devices available. Apple did not take the devices to the enterprise: the enterprise world did.

With iOS 8, it gets even better. The simplicity and streamlined functionality and settings are taken to the next level with:

  • VIP threads, allowing company messages to display directly on the lock screen.
  • Department-controlled browser settings
  • Enhanced Adobe Acrobat PDF support
  • Co-workers calendar accesssibility
  • Automatic setup of Secure E-mail through Microsoft Exchange

Yet, many of Apple’s applications and services built for consumers are, not surprisingly, fit for the work environment, like Continuity, the new app that allows for live collaboration between different mobile and desktop devices.

With last year’s introduction of the “Do Not Disturb” feature in iOS, users can set thread levels and blocks of times in which they are not available: another very desirable enterprise-level feature.

Apple’s strides in home automation and wearable technology is also a factor pushing Apple in enhancing its reach into enterprise businesses looking to be more productive and have the best and greatest devices on the market.
