YouTube for Apple TV update aims to bring the full experience

With the latest update of the YouTube app, Google is planning on delivering the full YouTube experience to Apple users, with a total design overhaul, predictive search, ad support for video, and the ability to favorite channels directly from the television.

With over 6 billion hours of video, so far, and one billion unique visitors every month, YouTube’s update comes not a moment too soon, as Apple TV’s sales have literally tripled since last year, courtesy of increasingly affordable and fast Internet, as well as a wealth of new services and streaming services now supported by Apple TV.

These include Conde Nast Entertainment's The Scene, featuring video content from The New Yorker, Vanity Fair and Vogue; entertainment network Fusion; live ultimate-fighting programming comes with UFC.TV, available on subscription; Apple TV has also added Dailymotion, a smaller video-sharing competitor to YouTube.

The new YouTube experience on Apple TV is likely to create a more symbiotic relationship between Apple and Google, at least as far as video streaming. A better experience could increase YouTube viewership and membership numbers even further, as well as guaranteeing increased revenue from ad-supported video, with the additional push of social sharing features available through the app. Apple has everything to gain from an increasing number of consumers likely to choose Apple TV over competing streaming boxes.
