This awesome case will not protect your MacBook... but you will want one anyway

Owners of MacBook Pro and MacBook Air manufactured after 2013 are in for a treat that will bring back their inner-child. Brik, a Kickstarter campaign, has already reached its goal of releasing the “World’s Most Customizable MacBook Case”.

Brik Case for MacBook Pro and MacBook Air

This versatile accessory fits all MacBook Pro and MacBook Air laptops as a back cover, whose surface is covered in familiar Lego-compatible studs. The Brik Case comes with a set of 100 1x1 thin bricks that can be arranged on the back of a MacBook to create all sorts of designs, with the end result being flat enough to slide into a bag or backpack without loss of bricks... except in the case of particularly hardcore Lego enthusiasts looking to bury their MacBooks under increasingly complex dioramas.

The manufacturing of the Brik Case requires special ABS plastic molds compatible with different MacBook laptops, each one costing up to $10,000. The company has already reached its goal of raising $30,000, only two days away from the end of its campaign, with pledges still pouring in.

MacBook sports fans, as well as anyone who would like to customize the Brik Case with a specific logo or design, can request a set specific to such design. The colored bricks required to assemble the design will be shipped along with step-by-step instructions. Special bricks can also be ordered to assemble accessories on the back of the Brick Case, such as business card holders and other utility items.

The Brik Case is by no means designed to protect MacBooks from being dropped, as it is merely an aesthetic add-on that clips on the back of a MacBook’s screen.

Although the Brik Case and included bricks are compatible with regular Lego construction sets, the company has clearly stated that there is no affiliation between Brik Case and the Lego Group.

The Brik Case is expected to begin shipping in August. Each case will come with a “Bag O’ Bricks” in soft cloth, containing 100 1x1 bricks compatible with the case.
