Say what you want about the new MacBook Pro, but it’s outselling any other Pro model ever.

According to Apple VP of Worldwide Marketing Phil Schiller, it doesn’t get any more Pro than with the MacBook Pro, even amidst some criticism in regard to the missing physical Escape key, and the SD card.

Schiller addressed the passionate debates in regard to the latest Apple laptop, by stating that: “...We know we made good decisions about what to build into the new MacBook Pro and that the result is the best notebook ever made, but it might not be right for everyone on day one. That's okay, some people felt that way about the first iMac and that turned out pretty good...”.

With that said, while Schiller wouldn’t dare dismiss consumer’s criticism, he does say that Apple’s online orders have never been higher, compared to any previous, or current MacBook Pro:

“...We are proud to tell you that so far our online store has had more orders for the new MacBook Pro than any other pro notebook before...”

Much like Tim Cook, Schiller is also adamant that there won’t be a convergence of iOS and macOS, going on record saying that iPhone and iPad will remain direct-manipulation, multi-touch devices that focus on a full-screen experience, while the MacBook, Touch Bar or not, will remain a product designed to be operated through a keyboard and a pointing device, although it isn’t clear on whether Apple Pencil may some day draw a bridge across the MacBook and the iPad.

Demand generated by the MacBook Pro has been so high that shipping estimates have reached six weeks or more.

The Touch Bar has been definitely a major driver in sales numbers so far, considering that the only product currently in stock at Apple is the 13 inch MacBook Pro with the physical function keys sans Touch Bar, and available on Space Grey and Silver, starting at $1499.
