Next Microsoft Windows 10 Preview Build comes with revamped email, People and calendar apps

As of the latest build 10049, which introduced us to Project Spartan, it occurred to many Insiders, that the People app, as well as the Calendar and email client app have suddenly stopped working, due apparently, to an impending update.

Upon a closer investigation, those apps will invariably fail to install. It so happens that the outage was very much intentional, as recent leaked screenshots suggest those same apps are now due for a rather substantial overhaul.

Microsoft Windows 10 new Mail, People and Calendar apps

Calendar and People, are two rather important aspects of Windows 10, as they bind contact lists and events across all Windows 10 devices. While both apps seemed to work rather well on a first inception, improvements have been sporadic in the way of interface design and experience, until now.

The email client, on the other hand, has always been a hot-button issue in Windows 10, mostly for the lack of third-party POP3 and IMAP email support, which some may have interpreted as a way to push Outlook to consumers looking to user their own POP3 email in Windows 10.

As of late, images have surfaced, showing a completely revamped version of the email app, which we might just find in the next build 10051.

The new email client app, appears to integrate with Calendar and People, which we can assume will work in a very similar way as it does on mobile devices, by means of cloud synchronization, which is very good news for those users with hefty address books.

There is no indication, one way or another, on POP3 and IMAP support, but there is hope that Microsoft will enable these accounts, if anything, for consistency across devices, and to stay relevant as an email provider. Both Apple and Google have supported POP3 and IMAP protocols in Android and iOS.

From a design perspective, the new interface is very attractive and in tune with the latest improvements on Windows 10’s interface. The UI showcases more color and intuitive elements.

The next build is said to see a possible release within a week from now, as Microsoft Windows 10 gets closer to its commercial availability.
