New Broadwell Core M rumored to power 2015 ultra-thin Apple Macbooks

2015 ultra thin Apple Laptops

The rumored 2015 12-inch Macbook Air is expected to integrate some very interesting features and technologies, some of which are so brand new, they have yet to be seen in other devices.

The new, energy efficient 4.5 watts Broadwell Intel Core M CPU is expected to power the new ultra-thin 12-inch Macbook. The trade-off of the extended battery life is expected to be a slight decrease in speed, though hardly noticeable by regular operating standards.

Of course, the new Apple device is expected to deliver crisp, stunning resolutions with a Retina display, much like the Macbook Pro.

Another great addition is the highly anticipated USB Type-C connector, which means, owners of the 12 inch Macbook will be able to connect and power the latest devices, including external monitors.

A full-size keyboard is also in the cards, as it seems the new Macbook Air will have almost no border between the keys and the edge of the laptop. The speakers will also be moved above the keyboard and visible.

Thin and light is the name of the game with all the latest and greatest iDevices, and Macbooks are no exception, with the new 12 inch ultra portable expected to be even lighter than the Macbook Pro, and almost as light as the Macbook Air.

Why a 12-inch Macbook Air?

A 12 inch Macbook makes perfect sense, as it is a product that will satisfy users who may not have a need for a full-size 13-inch Macbook, while needing something more than the Macbook Air, without sacrificing any of the thin and light design premise.

A 12 Inch Macbook with a Retina display makes even more sense, as Apple seems to be set on integrating Retina in most, if not all future Macbook products.

One thing not completely clear is whether this 12-inch Macbook will be in a class of its own, or whether it will be part of the Macbook Air lineup. According to the latest rumors, and specs leaks, it might come down to a simple marketing decision.

While an official release date is yet to be announced, early 2015 seems a fair guess based on Apple’s trends in previous years.
