Is the Apple iPad Mini on its way out?

Is the Apple iPad Mini on its way out?

If there is one thing we can count on Apple to keep up with, is consistency in designing all of its products.

This is why it’s easy to spot whether a device is on the path to extinction, or legacy.

Apple tends to extend brand new features, like the Retina Display, the Touch Bar, or the Force Touch Trackpad, across devices the company feels have a future in consumers lives, while other products are not so lucky, such as the iPad Air 2, or the Thunderbolt Display.

Reports of a bezel-free 5.8 inch iPhone 8 have become public knowledge in recent weeks, suggesting that iOS devices will follow suit in the future.

While there are doubts that Apple will go as far at to add an extra inch to an already massive iPhone 7 Plus, especially considering that a bezel-free iPhone will look like a portable HDTV, more than i would as a phone, if there is any accuracy in these reports, it means that the era of small tablets may be about over, as consumers gravitate towards larger iPad sizes, especially when using their iPad as a replacement laptop or netbook.

With a screen size only a few inches smaller than the iPad Mini, the iPhone 7 already does more than the iPad Mini could, in a more manageable form factor, even if the iPad Mini offers a much better display, with more definition and color accuracy, as well as a more powerful processor and more memory.

To make matters grimmer for the iPad Mini, is the fact that no leaks have come through whatsoever about the iPad Mini, from either the suppliers, or any chief analysts reporting to the shareholding community.

The last refresh of the iPad Mini 4 occurred during the iPad Pro event in 2015, with no further upgrades ever since.

Meantime, reports of a 10.5 inch iPad Pro date back to 2016, alongside rumors of a 12.9 inch iPad Pro 2.
