Is a new Mac Mini next in Apple's list of surprise updates in 2014?

Among Apple’s post-iPhone 6 announcements expected to happen in October, rumors of a much awaited updated version of the Apple Mac Mini have began to spread, in the wake of an alleged typo occurred on Apple’s own support page, listing a “Mac Mini 2014”.

While the entry could be dismissed as human error, the Mac Mini has been due for a refresh, for quite some time. Mac Mini fans have been waiting for a new version of the device since 2012.

The latest leaks provide no definitive information on the Mac Mini’s specs, but previous sources have reported the possibility of the Mac Mini to include Intel Iris Graphics and 802.11ac WiFi, a recurrent set of features quickly spreading across many Apple products.

With rumors of an updated Apple Macbook Air 2.0 in 2015, featuring USB C-Type connectors, there is room for speculation that the highly anticipated technology could make its appearance in at least some future Apple products, including the Apple Mac Mini, whose form factor could benefit from more versatile connectivity options, as well as a faster processor.

Apple has been very tight-lipped about its 2014-2015 possible Mac lineup, a stance that never fails to build anticipation among fans, especially with so many Mac products still on the update waiting list.

Sources close to manufacturing seem to converge on an October announcement, as the earliest we can expect, without any more definitive information on what devices will be announced.
