Apple says “Hello Again” on October 27th: Big MacBook announcement may just happen

Apple might unveil new MacBook next Thursday

Apple has finally announced the official date for its upcoming keynote, October 27th, incidentally the day after Microsoft’s own event, and chances are, it’s far from coincidental.

Rumors of a Microsoft Surface AIO are on the rise, and it’s possible that Microsoft might just release what some already are describing as an “iMac killer”.

On the other hand, Apple has a few surprises of its own that could finally shed some light on a new MacBook strategy. The previous, and so far current, strategy, has been in the form of predominantly incremental upgrades, prompted by only two products: the 12 inch MacBook, and the iPad Pro.

By this token, Apple has long been rumored to have been working on a completely redesigned MacBook Pro, which may include a number of innovations, as well as never-before-seen features.

If there is anything that we could possibly gather from the event title “Hello again”, is that after the release of a 9.7 inches version of the iPad Pro, an all-new MacBook Pro is the only product that makes sense.

With that said, there is a chance that Apple may surprise us with a few more unexpected releases, mostly due to the fact that if Microsoft is indeed about to close the loop on its Surface product line with a desktop AIO, Apple is likely about to respond with a few sizable announcements.

“Sizable” may very well be quite literal in this case, in regard to a rumored Apple Display, set to replace the retired non-Retina Thunderbolt display. The new display is expected to feature the same resolution at the iMac Retina 5K, and could come in three sizes, possibly 21, 24, and 27 inches, although anything clearer than this has yet to leak out, and probably won’t until Tim Cook walks the stage.

By next Thursday we might also be able to get some more reliable information about whether or not Apple intends to retire the MacBook Air, or reboot it in a new embodiment, and the same goes for the Mac Mini and Mac Pro, both of which are getting rather long in the tooth, with no more than a few minimal refreshes.
