Apple October 16 event confirmed, following invite to media outlets

Rumors of an October 16 Apple event have been confirmed, as media outlets including CNN, GeekBeat, Wired, TNW and several others, have received a formal invitation by Apple, titled “It’s been way too long”.

Even prior the official confirmation by Apple, anticipation has been building around an event that is expected to answer the many questions left unanswered last month, particularly in regard to a potential refresh of the Apple iMac and we hope a refreshed Mac Mini product lines for 2014, left in the back-burner for much too long, with most of the attention given to Apple’s mobile and wearable products. A Retina version of the iMac also might make an appearance, as no newer release of this product has been seen since 2012.

The event will be held at Apple’s Cupertino headquarters, a smaller affair during which we expect to learn a bit more about the Mac OS X Yosemite operating system, among other things.

A new iPad Air, as well as a refreshed iPad Mini are also expected to be announced, and to include Touch ID, and similar colors as the iPhone. There is also a slight chance to catch a glimpse of the fabled iPad Pro, and perhaps even Apple TV, whose rumors have been brewing since before the iPhone 6 event. Possible, but less likely, a refresh of the Apple Thunderbolt display.

Live access to the event is likely to be restricted to Mac OS and iOS users, just as Apple did for the September 9 event, with live streams provided by attending third party news casters, starting at 10:00am Pacific.
